Raul Cristancho was born in Moniquirá, Colombia, in 1955.  He studied at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, and went on the receive a Master of Fine Arts diploma from the Art Institute of Chicago.  He has held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Colombia, and has taken part in group shows throughout the United States and Colombia.
